Wine Critics Notes:

Vinous - Score: 88 (2021 May)

The 1988 Grand Mayne displays mild bricking on the rim. The bouquet is well defined and shows good vitality: earthy red fruit, briary and light cola scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly lactic entry, touches of dark chocolate infusing the red fruit. There is some dryness beginning to creep in towards the metallic finish, suggesting that this 1988 is just starting to decline in bottle, although larger formats should be better and worth seeking out. Tasted at the Grand Mayne vertical at the property.
